No. We like to give our full attention to each task in turn and take the time to produce the best possible finish.
Please discuss your timeframe and urgency with us and we will try our best to accommodate you. Some jobs can be completed within a couple of days, and others (such as cast plaques and enameled badges) could take up to 4 weeks.
We engrave silver, gold, stainless steel, tungsten, greenstone and most other jewellery materials.
The best results are achieved on flat surfaces or the inside/outside of circular rings and bracelets. Curved or embossed surfaces can be engraved but we will need to work through the location and layout with you to get the best result.
When you bring the item in we will discuss colour and depth. It is difficult to predict what colour the engraving might be, particularly on plated items or unusual alloys. Our priority is to minimise the heat and pressure we apply to your item.
Some items will not be accepted for practical or company policy reasons:
We don't engrave leather or similar organic material due to unacceptable odours and highly variable results
Most plastics are okay but there are some that none of our machines can successfully mark or engrave. Please contact us to discuss.
We do not engrave guns, gun components, or any other functioning weapons
Images that are knowingly subject to copyright (e.g. Disney characters) cannot be engraved
Objectionable images or text will not be accepted
We want our products to last for at least the life you expect from them. We will give you the best advice possible for your application and purpose. Different materials and methods are appropriate for exposure to water, light and heat, and there are also some really cost effective options for more protected situations. The Plaque Comparison in our Tools section provides some more information.
Engraving is a simple process that removes material or changes the surface. We stock some repurposed products and have a range of engravable timbers. We will also happily engrave your timber and recycled materials. We regularly produce wooden signs, badges, labels and bookmarks, and have previously engraved items that comply with eco-burial requirements.
